Security Policies migration from 6.5.6 to 8.5 or 8.5.1

Hi,
WE have security password policies setup on 6.56FP2 server. If we migrate from current server release to 8.5/8.5.1 server would the current policies work fine on new releases. Also would we be able to enable the max no. of login attempts from DWA to stop multiple login attempts?
